John Frieda FRIZZ-EASE Dream Curls collection review

FRIZZ-EASE ® Dream Curls ®
I got these Frizz Ease products as part of a press sample from BuzzAgent back in 2014 and I completely forgot to allow this post to go live, it has sat in my drafts for nearly a year now and it is about time I shared my experience with John Frieda's frizz ease.

I've never really liked Frizz Ease. When I was younger mum would use it and it never made my frizz go away, if anything it hurt more, a little like the 'no more tears' shampoo that made tears! Anyway... Recently I've grown to love John Frieda products and I've been trying to embrace my natural frizzy, curly hair! It takes forever washing, blow drying and then getting the GHDs on it so any help I can get with helping my hair I'll happily accept with open arms.

What is in the box?
Dream Curls Shampoo: Defines and enhances curls for instantly easier styling results. Infused with a styling polymer.
Dream Curls Conditioner: Defines, enhances and moisturises curls for instantly … styling results. Infused with a styling polymer.
Unwind Curls Calming Creme: Calms and loosens curls for softer, salon-perfect style that lasts all day.
Miraculous Recovery Creme Serum: Intense repair formula visibly transforms dry, frizzy hair to become silky-smooth and healthier looking. Contains a thermal protectant.

My hair
Hair before using frizz-ease

As you can see my hair is naturally very frizzy, it doesn't help that I often dye it blonde and red and don't use enough hair treatments.

After I've used Frizz-Ease (1-3 after wash 4-6 after blowdry)
My hair is still pretty frizzy just not as wild with the frizz. For me these products didn't really anything amazing but I can say my hair did feel so much cleaner, more curly and smelt beautiful. I did unfortunately notice that I was getting very bad dandruff whist using these products and the moment I stopped my hair is back to normal. I can't be sure that it was directly due to the products or due to the change in weather but it wasn't a happy time for me whist this was happening.

I'd love to repurchase the shampoo and conditioner because I loved how clean and light my hair felt but I'm a little scared to take the risk with dandruff.

Have you tried John Friend Frizz-Ease?

  5. I'm not fussed on John Frieda's shampoos as they contain sulphates. If you have any scalp problems such as irritation then sulphates are the worst to put on your scalp as they are actually irritants. These are ingredients which you will see on the back - Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and Sodium Laureth Sulphate. They also strip color from hair, which is the worst if you color your hair. If you have a problem with dandruff I recommend Aveda Scalp Benefits, it's really helps with any sort of scalp problems and it's sulphate free. My scalp was very irritated and that shampoo has calmed it down a lot x

    1. Thank you so much Hannah, this really helps. I wondered why my hair got really bad with this product. I'll have to keep an eye out for ingredients and hopefully my bad scalp will go in time.

    2. Aveda shampoo isn't cheap, but it works. A bottle of their scalp benefits shampoo is £17.50. I have to say that Kerastase is the same price and that contains Sodium Laureth Sulphate. You don't expect that from a shampoo costing that much. The Kerastase scalp shampoo just irritated my scalp worse and didn't help at all. I contacted Kerastase and told them how disspointed i was to learn that their shampoo contained nasty sulphates. x

  9. so you use a shampoo and conditioner to enhance your curls, then soften them with the cream? there's really a huge difference between your picture 1 and picture 6. your curls are straighten!

  11. Frizz is a big problem for me too and I hate it! It takes so long to get rid of them with styling products and heat is pretty much the only way to tame them, whether with a flat iron or a curler. Never tried these before but hopefully I can find them one day to try it out!

  12. It's such a shame that it left you with dandruff. Hopefully they'll have a new product out that stops that :) x

  16. Nice hair color. It did take care of the frizz but if you get dandruff with it, you have to discontinue and just live with the frizz. It can be fun to just embrace the frizz and just have fun with it.
