How to survive 10 days of drinking and partying

Since the age of 17 I've been going on girls holiday. At 17 I went to Ayia Napa, 18 & 19 I went to Ibiza, at 20 I went to Magaluf and Kos and at 21 I went back to Ayia Napa. My holidays have normally been a week but in Ayia Napa I went for two weeks the first time and 10 days the last time. During my girls holidays I drink more than a years worth of alcohol and dance until my feet won't let me dance anymore! With a few years experience under my belt I thought I'd give some advice and tips on how to survive 10 days of hardcore partying and drinking daily. I never get hangovers while I'm abroad because I always stick to my tips and trust me I do drink a lot.

Drink plenty of water:
Before I head off for my night out while I'm of sane mind I always make sure there is at least 2L of water next to my bed, this keeps me hydrated as soon as I walk back in the door. Normally I just slump on the bed and fall asleep and when I wake up during the night I make sure I drink loads of water, this stops me from being hungover the next day.

'Eating is cheating':
I really don't care if eating is cheating. I always make sure I have a big meal before I go out and have some junk food on my way home. This lines my stomach so I can drink more and it takes longer to hit me.

Mix drinks but don't be silly:
I always mix drinks, I'll drink a head f**k which is a mix of all spirits and then I'll drink my vodka and diet coke/ redbull and I'll also have shots, the one thing I know not to touch while drinking heavy for 10 days is WINE. Wine isn't fine! Wine gives me a headache within hours and it would totally mess up my holiday, I'd be moody, hungover and not ready to party the next day if I had wine. So it doesn't matter what spirits I mix I never vomit nor do I have a hangover.

Hair of the dog
If you do happen to get hungover I find having a cheeky cocktail will normally make me feel a lot better! There is something about drinking some more that makes me forget about the horrible feeling of being hungover. Most of my holidays I drink all night and have cocktails and cider during the day to pace myself.

Pre-drink
Pre-drinking in your hotel room is a must, it is a lot cheaper and you know you're drinking premium spirits instead of the local spirits, which often taste like paint stripper. Drinking games like 'Never have I ever' or 'King's Cup' or 'On the bus' are great ways to break the ice with your neighbours and get drunk before you even leave the hotel.

Make it to the pool
While abroad I normally get back around 6am sometimes later and it can be hard to wake-up and be motivated. But make sure you at least get up and make it to the pool. You can sleep, catch some sun and when you finally feel motivated get something to eat and drink before having a dip in the pool. At least you can tell your family and friends back home that you didn't party all night and sleep all day. I barely have a tan this year compared to normal.

Be safe!
I'm not talking sun tan lotion, although that is a complete must but being 'safe' is needed. I'm lucky that every time I've gone on holiday myself and my friends don't go on holiday to pull and we are satisfied with a large greasy pizza and going to bed alone in our hotel room. I know many people go on holiday to be promiscuous and if you're going to make silly decisions when drunk at least be protected so it doesn't come back to bite you in the bum in a few months.

Do you have any tips to survive a girls/lads holiday?

  2. Oh gosh, 10 days of drinking doesn't sound great to me at all but I do agree that before and after any night out, plenty of food and lots of water is very important!! xxx

  3. I really don't think I could manage 10 days of drinking nowadays! Haha. Good tips though - I always get a hangover unless I have some cheesy chips on the way home, it's science!

  4. Everytime I go on holiday back to the States, I drink every single day. 3 weeks! However, yeah moderation is key and keep hydrated for sure. I always found having a little snack of crisps or whatever before I pass out helps loads too (as does taking something for the headache)

  5. This is a great post. I went to Zante two years ago and had a great time. We always pre drunk in the hotel as we had wristbands to get free drinks in the evening. x

  9. Great tips, especially about drinking water! If you are in a much hotter climate to what you are used to it can be really dangerous, I also think not forgetting to put sun cream on no matter how drunk/hungover you feel! Sunburn mixed with a hangover is a recipe for a hellish day!

  16. I've never been hungover as well, but that's mainly because I never really drink a whole lot. The most I've gotten is tipsy, but that's it. Your tips are great and I'm sure a lot of people don't realize they should drink a lot of water or have a big meal before going out drinking!

  18. I personally don't agree with getting drunk before you leave the hotel, I don't want to be one of those girls staggering about outside clubs being sick by 11pm! I do however agree with making sure you eat and drinking water! I've been on a fair few drink heavy holidays and keeping hydrated is the best thing you can do!

  19. To be completely honest I'm not really into going abroad, to an unfamiliar environment and getting completely hammered. To be honest I don't really get why people need to get drunk to have a good time. I've seen people act absolutely atrocious whilst drunk. My advice is everything in moderation.
