Guest Post: Benefit Some Kinda Gorgeous Foundation Review

Hi everyone, I’m Beth, a UK beauty and lifestyle blogger from La Blog Beauté. I live in the beautiful Devon countryside with my gorgeous fiancé, four cats, and my mad, but loveable puppy, Monty. I am beauty mad, crazy about decor, and also, a total foodie.

When it comes to makeup, I love trying new things. However, there is one product that I am incredibly picky about, and that’s my foundation. I am one of those lucky people who has skin that isn’t prone to spots, so I don’t really have much that needs covering up. Apart from a little redness, around my cheeks and nose, and dark bags, under my eyes.

For the past few months, I have been using Benefit’s Some Kinda Gorgeous foundation - available to buy here. While slightly on the pricey side - £24.50 for 9.5 grams, it has to be said that it lasts well - mine has lasted me nearly four months!

If, like me, you are a fan of light coverage, Some Kinda Gorgeous is the perfect foundation for you. The cream-to-powder formula is easy to apply, blends easily, and gives a light, natural-looking finish. One layer of this product gives light coverage, while two layers are ideal for achieving medium coverage.

You can see in this picture how light the foundation is, as well as how well it gets rid of redness.

For minimal coverage, the lovely girls at the Benefit counter taught me the trick of wetting the sponge before applying the foundation. This loosens it up, makes a small amount go further, and gives an even lighter covering. If you aren’t a fan of too much makeup, give this a go.

I always apply this over my fave moisturising primer - Forever Living’s Aloe Moisturising Lotion, it goes on evenly, improves the texture of my skin, and sets well. As I have combination skin - oily and dry, I love the fact that this foundation is oil free.

When applying over primer and setting with Rimmel’s Clear Complexion Powder, the foundation stays in place for around six to eight hours. After around eight hours, it then starts to come off - that’s more than enough wear for a day at the office, right?

The best thing about this product is that it comes in three colours - light, medium and dark. Some people think that that’s a negative, but I found it much easier to choose a shade. For me, having less choice is best, as I always struggle to pick the right shade. However, as I know that I have pale skin, I knew that the light shade would work well for me.

Would I buy it again? Absolutely! Yes, it is a little pricey, but it’s a fantastic product that is easy to apply, blends seamlessly and stays on for up to eight hours.

The only negative about this foundation is the amount that you get for the price - it would be nice to get a little more for your money.

  4. I've seen this product so many times but never picked it up just because with all foundations you just stick with what you know, but it sounds great!
