ELF Makeup Remover Pen review

I picked up my remover pen in my ELF haul last week and this was the one item I was most excited about.
Don't you just hate it when you have a full face of make-up and you go to finish your eyelashes or eye liner and  make a mistake or smudge it in some way? I know I do. I often get mascara on my nose when I am rushing to put it on and as you know you then have to take your foundation off especially when using wipes or make-up remover which can be a complete pain in the a$$! Believe it or not but the pen has been in a few magazines too! Marie Claire, Woman's Day, In Style & People

How to use
Stroke the tip of the pen across the make-up you want to remove. (Normally eye liner, trails of powder. Something little) It is that simple, if you're doing a larger part you can use tissue to blot your face if needed. You should clean the tip of the marker with a tissue after each use as it gets dirty quickly.

1 & 2 -  Concealer & eye shadow, 3 - once removed 4 - pen after use

What ELF say:
Mascara smears? Uneven eyeliner? Quickly remove or correct small makeup smudges, smears and mistakes without having to take off the rest of your makeup! The gentle and non-greasy formula erases even long wearing and waterproof makeup for flawless touch ups, perfect for throwing in your purse or gym bag when you're on-the-go! Infused with Vitamin E, Cucumber and Chamomile to moisturise and condition skin.

 What I say:
When I first opened it I touched the tip and it felt dry, didn't even feel like there was any 'remover' there. It instantly reminded me of the eraser pens I had as a child, one side pen other side eraser, luckily this doesn't have that weird smell the pens did. I have used it twice now (other than the purpose of this review) but the two times were over one application of make-up and as you can see it is already dirty and has foundation on. It can become time consuming cleaning the pen rather than just using a ear bud and throwing it away after. I also found the second time using it it smudged my eye shadow rather than taking it off completely but it may just be down to me not cleaning it from the last use. It hasn't happened to me but I can imagine if you pushed too hard the tip would fall inside the pen. I love the size of the pen, it is small and fits in my bag perfectly even that little pocket inside.

Pull out the felt tip of the marker when dirty and rotate to the clean opposite end and replace for extended use.

  1. This looks really interesting - I make so many makeup mistakes and end up removing everything and then starting again lol. I might have to give it a go for the price :)

    Great review Charlene xx

  2. What an interesting and clever idea. Might be worth it for little mistakes but big ones, as Louise says, I would just take my make up off and start again.

    Thank you for sharing.

  3. Looks ok, but I don't think I'd try it myself. Baby wipes are the only things I can use on my face lol x

  5. Oh what a good idea - I'm awful at making a mess of my eye make up then having to start over again I think I need to get myself one! Thank you x

  6. I was really interested when I heard about this, it sounds like a fab idea but I wonder if it's more time consuming than just using a piece of cotton wool or wipe.
