5 Benefits of Being Curvy/Plus-Size

It seems like the whole world is fixated on the negatives of being a plus size lady but I'm pretty happy in my plus size body and love my slight hourglass figure. I'm not the healthiest person in the world but I'm learning what works best for me and body confidence was my first step to a better, happier me.

Perks of being curvy/plus-sized

1. Your fashion style is often more unique - Although many fashion designers and brands are launching their plus-size range and getting better with what curvy girls want/need there still isn't as much of a wide variety as there is for slimmer people, therefore you're not wearing the same thing every other girl/woman is wearing. Also curvy girls fill out jeans and leggings perfectly. I love the shape of my bum in jeans/jeggings and wet-look leggings.

2. You're often a fetish - This can go both ways and be a negative too but so many men are over the size 0, model look and love girls with curves and something to hold. I've noticed so many men who love a plus-size lady and just because you're a little larger don't mean you can't find love. There are cultures that prefer larger ladies. Plus there is no inferiority complex, men may feel under pressure to keep fit when they have a lady who cares very strongly about how she looks AND.... There is more of you to love right?

3. You're "bubbly" - I hate the term "bubbly" it is often used to define a 'fat chick'. But I have noticed plus-size and curvy ladies are a lot less judgmental, this is often due to the fact we get judged often. Being the butt of many fat jokes and judgement as a child I've got to that stage where I see the funny side and I can come up with a joke like the best of them.

4. Your boobs are a shelf - I am known to hide things in my bra or have my laptop, phone, remote or anything else sit on top of my boobs like a shelf and no they don't fall! I love it. Not many people can say they can hold random objects on their bust.

5. You're inspiring if you lose weight - If you don't like how you look or you just want to be healthier it is a complete ego boost when people notice how much weight you've lost. I can't get enough of the attention I get from everyone when they ask if I've lost weight and how inspiring it is about the amount of weight I've lost in so little time.

6. BONUS: You're harder to kidnap - Sounds funny but let's be realistic here. You're a lot less likely to be kidnapped when you're on the larger side. I remember as a kid I got told they'd bring me back by lunch time!

I asked a few plus-size ladies online and I couldn't stop laughing at some of their responses on what they love about being a plus-size lady. Some were a little too x-rated for my PG blog, but still so funny.

I would like it noted that I am in no way weight/body shaming and I honestly believe everyone should be happy in the skin their in, if you're a size 000 or a size 36 you're beautiful and your size does not define the wonderful person you are and if anyone tells you otherwise tell them to do one! This post is a joke, and should be taken with a pinch of salt. I wasn't confident in my body for over 19 years and for the past 18(ish) months I've finally began to love myself and my body for the way I was made and I'd hate to feel that I'm making anyone less confident about theirs.

  7. This really made me giggle :)

I'm not plus sized but I've gone from a size 8-10 to a 12/14 and I am beginning to feel so much more comfortable in my body (now that I've got a new wardrobe, anything for an excuse, right ;) )

  9. I hate the size I am at the moment, I feel better around a 16 (which is still + size but I actually feel happy in my own skin there and it seems to more my "natural" size). Shelf boobs however are the BEST!

  14. I'm not a plus size, but I do think that everyone should feel comfortable in their own skin, no matter how big, small, tall, short, or whatever you are.

  24. haha cute. Body size doesn't matter, it what a person's heart really matters. Due to body shamming, a lot of people face anxiety issues which s really bad. I am very thin, I eat a lot, am kinda sporty and still don't gain any weight. This doesn't mean I am a bad person right?
