What Makes Me Happy

*Sings Happy by Pharrell Williams*

Sometimes when I'm having a down day I need a few pick-me-ups, I've had a rough few days filled with work, a couple of 'let downs' and just an overall feeling of sadness. To give myself a boost I try and list all the things that are amazing in my life, and I read them over and over again until I'm starting to feel better about myself.

I thought I'd share with you some of the things that bring me happiness when I'm feeling low.

Family
My mum is also my best friend, I don't tell her enough how much she really means to me, we fight pretty much daily but sometimes just a random chat about anything will cheer me up and make me have an instant boost. I don't speak to many others in my family, well not daily so mum is always my first go-to for a quick boost of happiness.

Friends
I have so many amazing friends who I constantly annoy with my problems and they're great. Sometimes I'm not looking for advice I just want to vent and have someone listen without judging me.

Food
It is terrible to say as I'm doing so well on my 'diet' but I have 'cheat days' when I'm feeling sad and sometimes I eat so much it counteracts the fact I've been eating well on other days. Food is 100% a comfort for me and chocolate makes me happy!

Blogging
Sometimes I just write blog posts that will never go live or write posts like this. It often makes me feel better to write it all down, get it out my system then I delete the post or if I decided to write a post that could go live I always make sure I reword it when I'm in a better mood.

Music
Music has always been an escape for me, I love to listen to EDM and house music to get me in a better mood as it makes me dream about upcoming holidays and past holidays. I also love to listen to songs that have memories attached.

What makes you happy?
Do you do anything to cheer yourself up on a down day?

  1. Nice little post Charlene. My top one is family too but they are sadly too far off , so I have sometimes to do with a long drive and good music xx

  3. Aww I love this post :) I always distract myself to try and cheer myself up but once I remember what was bringing me down before it tends to bring me down again. But like yourself I'm very close to my mum so it's nice to be able to talk to her! x
