Pixi Beauty: Charcoal Celebration Review

In my goodie bag from my visit to ASOS back in August {post} I was lucky enough to get a Pixi nail varnish. I had never used anything Pixi before and had heard of them maybe a handful of times online. I was super excited to try out the varnish and see if I'd fall in love with a new nail varnish brand. I have to say I was a little disappointed
Retailing on their website for £8 Pixi varnishes are a little more  pricey than what I'd normally pay for a Varnish, I was just glad mine was free and I didn't waste money on it!
One coat, three coats, three coats and top coat
Charcoal Celebration is a  deep charcoal shimmer shade formulated for high definition, super smooth application with a chip-resistant finish and built-in UV protection to prevent polish discolouration. I did find a smooth application until I tried to cover up some streaks and the formula went to glop and became very hard to deal with, even with the end result on my actual nails there were streaks that I could not get rid of.
Pros
  • The brush gives a great coverage
  • Lasted three days before chipping
  • Great for Halloween
Cons
  • Price £8 is over priced
  • Needed 3 layers
  • Went gloopy when I went over streaks
  • Shows streaks
  • Little too dark and the shade isn't very me

Overall, I'd have to say I was more disappointed in the shade, maybe if I found a shade that is a little more 'me' I'd like the brand a little more.

Have you tried Pixi before? Would you recommend I try a different shade?

  1. Shame the formula isn't great as I really rate Pixi. It is a lovely colour though!

  2. I've never tried a Pixi nail varnish, and after your review I don't think I will be! I hate nail varnishes that go streaky, I really do love that colour though, I may have to find an alternative!

  5. aww thats so disappointing that it was so expensive for so little coverage .. it wouldn't last long if overtime you used it you needed a minimum of 3 coats :-(

  6. I haven't heard of this brand - if I use nail varnish I need a quick drying one. This seems pricey and not that good which is a shame. Kaz x

  11. I actually really like how it looks with just one coat! I've used Pixi polishes before and found them to be a little hit and miss though

  12. I've never heard of this brand before.. But thank you for writing an honest review! I sometimes find the colours can change the consistency of a nail polish even if it is the same brand/formula.

  13. Shame this one didn't hit the spot really. Good that it lasted 3 days though, that has to be a plus
