University Student Chrismas Gift Ideas

It's Christmas in 31 sleeps and I'm getting excited! I'm like a small child when it comes to Christmas. I love how magical Christmas feels with all the decorations and everyone's a little more cheery, I'm looking forward to Winter Wonderland, Christmas songs at work and wearing my Christmas jumpers/hair accessories.
As some of you may know I'm in my third (and final) year at university, I'm currently doing my dissertation and I can't wait to finish my course in April, it's been a drag this year already and I'm only 8 weeks into the term.
When it comes to birthdays and Christmas my mum has always be one of them people that gets me practical gifts. She knows me so well and doesn't bother getting me things that I don't need/ won't use. I'd rather a new suitcase knowing I'm going on loads of holidays than something useless that will sit in my room and gather dust. It got me thinking, what do I need for Christmas? What do students need for Christmas?

Here are my gift ideas for students

1) Crate of Redbull (or any energy drink)
I'll be the first to say I'm addicted to energy drinks, I can't do my assignments without them! I'm that typically naughty student who leaves everything to the last minute which often means I'm up until 4am writing my assignment before I head to university/work at 9am! I couldn't do it without snacks and energy drinks. Home Bargains do 24 cans for £21.36 {here} (please note: I am not condoning drinking lots of energy drinks at once as this isn't healthy and it comes with it's own health risks. Pleased drink responsibly)

2) Starbucks or Nando's voucher (higher value the better)
Who doesn't love a coffee while you're sitting in a boring lecture or a cheeky Nando's? Students are known for living off noodles and eating anything they have left in the fridge so a food voucher is always a great choice of gift, it allows us to eat better. I also love a coffee in lecture, we have Starbucks on campus so that's my first port of call but any coffee shop voucher is good. The higher the value the better! £50 sounds pretty good to me!

3) Student Cookbook
Like I said above students are known for not eating well, I'll be honest I do eat pretty well and I'm an okay cook but learning how to cook healthy meals that are still cheap and easy is great for students. You'll have friends being the house chef and you'll learn all at the same time. ASOS have 'The Hungry Student Cookbook' for £9.99 which has over 170 cheap and easy meals. Amazon also  have 'The Ultimate Student Cookbook' which is £9.99 and you can also get a Kindle version, with this one it also have money saving tips, tell you all the essentials a student needs in the kitchen as well as 200+ recipes.

4) A Backpack
I was lucky last year I got a really good backpack off a friend and I swear by it. I take my Macbook to university daily and it ruined my Michael Kors bag as it's so heavy, it's great to have a backpack where I can put my Mac in and it carries the weight without breaking the bag or my back. A good backpack needs compartments. I have a place for my Mac as well as storage for other things like my purse, books and water I also have a little pocket to add pens and other small items like my USB. My backpack is Original Chuck and I love it.

5) A Big Hoodie
During the winter months it's freezing in the lecture halls, well it's freezing at my university. You know when you have them 'Meh, I can't be bothered today' days? I think students have them pretty much everyday, especially freshers who are going wild with the partying. I love the Hangover Hoodie from Boohoo, it's £14 and comes in S, M & L. Boohoo did have it in their plus size range too but they're out of stock. I'm sure you'll find similar ones on eBay too.

6) Drinking games
Students love drinking games, from card games to song related games, anything to get drunk quickly. Drinking games also break the ice when you have new friends over. I love Ring of Fire, there are so many different rules but I picked up the official cards from Unayy Games and with the rules on them and they only cost £3.99, if you go into your local B&M stores, Home Bargain or a bargain store I also find they have really cheap drinking games like Beer Pong, Spin the wheel shots and more. They're normally £6 or under and make great gifts. (please note: drink responsibility).

7) Gift Parcel
I've seen Student Gift Parcels advertised on my Facebook a lot the past few years and it's actually a great idea to gift a student. If you're looking to spend a bit of money for £75 you can get the 'uni survival' food parcel which has 40 items from playing cards to crisps and noodles. You can also design your own parcel for £5 and add your own products in.

8) Film / TV Subscription
If you're a student living away from home, even if you're in university halls you have to pay for a TV license! If you don't want to pay for that you can still watch TV as long as it isn't live. Subscriptions to Netflix (£6.99 p/m), NowTV (£8.99 p/m), Amazon Instant (£5.99 p/m) are all great ways to still be able to watch your favourite shows and films on your laptop or games console. You can get Netflix gift cards from your local Game, Morrisons, WH Smith, ASDA and Argos.

What do you think of these gifts? Would you like any of them? If you were a student would you be happy with these?
